Once home sickness kicks in, you’ll want to have some of your favorite items from home to decorate your new space. There are certainly a few essentials that every new college freshman should own.

Refrigerator

Few things are as comforting as a soda and a snack after a rough day. Brining a convenient mini fridge from home will make your dorm room feel a little more like home with out taking up an excess of space.

Slippers

Dorm rooms can be cold and drafty, so it’s important to bring some warm and cozy apparel from home. A warm pair of slippers will be essential, especially during the winter season.

Bunk Beds with Desk

Dorm rooms aren’t one of the most spacious places to inhabit so having a space optimizing bunk bed with a desk is essential. It will be an all-in-one furniture piece that will last throughout all four years of school.

Pictures from Home

Home sickness is common for college freshmen so having a few reminders from home is important. Investing in a billboard to stick pictures up or a few frames will give the room a personal touch and it makes a great college gift from parents.

A Fan

There is often poor circulation in dorm rooms so having a fan to keep you cool on hot nights will be necessary. They also drown out outside noise which will be perfect for long study sessions during finals week.
