About Swiss Army Knives
In 1884, Swiss cutler Karl Elsener set up shop in Ibach-Schwyz, installing a waterwheel in Tobelbach Brook to run his grinding and polishing machines. Thus began what would become the international brand name Victorinox, a combination of Victoria, for Elsener’s mother, and “inox,” or stainless steel. Today, Victorinox produces watches, luggage, clothing, and, famously, Swiss Army Knives. The forerunner of that name dates to 1897, when Elsener patented the Swiss Officer’s and Sports Knife he supplied to the Swiss Army. Following World War II, American servicemen and women shopping in PX stores shortened the name to Swiss Army Knife, which lives on in English-speaking countries around the world and has become a metaphor or versatility.

This set is a nice combination and the price is very good. Both my daddy and husband liked the set.

Classic Swiss Army product at an Amazon value price.

The only reason I did not go with 5 stars is that the

knife that was bundled in this package is really too small to use

for much of anything. Other than that, no complaints.

In fact, I purchased a couple different other models

    of knives after receiving these.

I didn’t realize that I got two knives when I ordered from Amazon! Both of them are great! Handy, functional and pretty too!

They are good and I do not know why we can’t take them on airlines as who was the last one on a plane to die from a Swiss Army knife? Small on on my key chain for easy access to tools.

    Okay.

You’re not a ladies man. You don’t need a corkscrew.

You’re not an outdoorsman. You don’t need a fish scaler.

You’re not old. You won’t need the magnifying glass for reading the newspaper.

You’re not a rescue worker. You don’t need a serrated blade for cutting seat belts.

You’re not a real handy kind of guy. You don’t need an assortment of screwdrivers, 1/4″ bit adapter, wire cutter, file, or pliers like you would find on a full size multi tool.

You’re not MacGuyver. You won’t save the world with your Swiss Army Knife.

This little baby is perfect for the little girls, or IT tech types, in my life. They can keep the larger one in their purse, or pocket protecter, then attach the smaller one on their key chain. Those tweezers are perfect for plucking their eyebrows, or clipping onto their joints; and then they can call me, a real man with man’s tools, to come along and jump start their cars, change their flats, change their light bulbs, open their jars, and spray WD-40 onto squeeky stuff.

All kidding aside. My niece loves her’s. She simply does not need all of those other things that come with the other tools. This narrows it down to a few simple things that she will use. A small blade for opening mail. Little screwdrivers for battery doors. Everybody needs a bottle opener. She loves the large blade for cutting big sandwiches in half since she simply can’t finish those giant deli combos. Her favorite part is the little scissors.
